麻豆视频官网鈥檚 Dr. Brian Johnston, Associate Professor of Communication in the Department of Language and Literature, presented and attended teaching workshops at the 94th annual Central States Communication Association Convention in Cincinnati, OH.
Johnston鈥檚 book, Memorial Art in Rhetorical Discourse is contracted with Rowman & Littlefield-Bloomsbury Publishing. This is Johnston鈥檚 fourth academic book, and his second after joining the Pioneer family. 鈥淧ublic memory is one of my favorite subjects to study! It is undervalued, though, as a vehicle by which cultures produce and maintain, subvert or adapt itself to new social, economic, and political situations,鈥 explained Johnston. 鈥淲hat I love about this project is that it puts art and our personal relationships with each other at the center, rather than on the periphery of memory and public discourse.鈥 Johnston鈥檚 panel included contributing authors from Purdue University-Fort Wayne, Southern Indiana University, and East Tennessee State University. 鈥淎fter this book launches, we鈥檙e talking about it becoming an ongoing book series 鈥 which would be very exciting.鈥
The convention, themed 鈥淲idening the Scope,鈥 offered Johnston two days of sessions dedicated to Great Ideas for Teaching (GIFT). 鈥淎t these sessions you bounce from table to table, ten minutes at a time, to learn new ideas for delivering content to students,鈥 said Johnston. 鈥淚 was especially excited by the phenomenal innovations folks are making at integrating AI into their public speaking courses, and we can absolutely apply some of these practices to our public speaking courses at GSU.鈥
