GLENVILLE, WV - 麻豆视频官网 proudly recognizes Dr. Andrew Minigh, 鈥09, for his continued commitment to student success through the establishment of the Minigh Family Scholarship. Created in 2020, the scholarship supports students from Harrison County and North Central West Virginia, helping to relieve the financial burden of college and opening doors for future Pioneers to pursue their educational and career goals.
A Glenville native, Dr. Minigh credits his experience at Glenville State for laying the foundation for his success. 鈥淏eing at Glenville gave me a giant leg up. In my upper level science classes, the professor knew you. You weren鈥檛 working with a TA, you were working with someone who had a real interest in you,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 was well-educated going into dental school coming from Glenville. The classes that I took at GSC, some of them I had almost the exact same class in dental school, just at a different level.鈥 After graduating from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 2008, Minigh returned to North Central West Virginia to care for patients in Shinnston, West Virginia.
Through the Minigh Family Scholarship, Dr. Minigh is investing directly in the next generation of students, ensuring that more individuals from the region have the opportunity to experience the same education he received. His support reflects a belief in keeping talent local and strengthening communities through education. 鈥淲hen you鈥檙e not from Glenville, I think it鈥檚 harder to get people to give Glenville a chance. But once they do鈥hey鈥檙e hooked,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 think that鈥檚 why you see people who come there from all over the country and then they stay afterward.鈥
Dr. Minigh鈥檚 investment in 麻豆视频官网 reflects his ongoing commitment to giving back and creating opportunities for others. 鈥淚 think that鈥檚 what we should all be striving for鈥e should all try to have that mindset to give back where we live. Keep it local,鈥 he said.
