麻豆视频官网鈥檚 Department of Land Resources has received a Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund grant to purchase modern forestry field instruments that will strengthen student training in forest measurements, timber inventory, and applied natural resource education.
Grant funds will be used to add key equipment for hands-on learning, including a hypsometer/clinometer for measuring tree height and a bark thickness gauge to improve the accuracy of inside-bark diameter calculations and volume estimates. These tools will expand the department鈥檚 ability to equip more students during field exercises and support growing enrollment.
The equipment will be integrated across Forest Technology, Natural Resource Management, and Wildlife Management courses, giving students more opportunities to practice standard forestry measurement techniques and produce more accurate height, diameter, and volume estimates during labs and field exercises.
鈥淭his grant provides our students with the tools needed to make accurate tree measurements in the field and apply those skills in forest inventory,鈥 said Dr. Rico Gazal, Professor in the Department of Land Resources.
